S. Kingstown Councilor Accused of 'Threatening' Comment

"She's lucky I didn't hit her," James O'Neill is accused of saying to a woman at a council meeting.

South Kingstown Town Councilor James O'Neill is in hot water over a remark he made at Monday's council meeting.

WJAR-TV reported Rachel Clough was at the meeting and voiced her opinion that only veterans-related events should be held in town on Memorial Day. O'Neill apparently disagreed with Clough's position.

During a break in the meeting, O'Neill could be head saying, "She's lucky I didn't hit her," according to WJAR.

Clough called the remark "threatening" and said it was directed at her. She said she filed a report with police.
