5 THINGS: Hoops, Dinners and Barbers

Check out some assorted events, and Bugs Bunny, in today's Five Things.

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Wednesday, February 20, 2013:

“The only man who never makes mistakes is the man who never does anything.” – Teddy Roosevelt. Here are today’s government meetings:

  • The Narragansett Pension Board meets at 8:30 a.m.
  • The South Kingstown Zoning Board of Review meets at 7 p.m.

“Never treat your audience as customers, always as partners.” – Jimmy Stewart. The Contemporary Theater Company is hosting acting lessons at 5 p.m. For more info, click here. The cost is $10.

URI men’s basketball hosts Xavier. We’ll be there live chatting tonight, so check back with us at around 7 p.m. if you want to follow along. The Rams still have an outside chance of qualifying for the Atlantic 10 tournament, but they basically have to win out the rest of their schedule.

Check out the other stuff on our events calendar! There is pottery, dinner specials at Mulligan’s in Richmond and Trio’s in Narragansett, lost Incan gold… Lots of cool stuff! Click here to see it.

Has the time or date or details of one of your events changed? If you posted the event yourself on our site, then remember – You can always change the details if you’re logged into your Patch account. Failing that, leave a comment on the item in question! The issue is that lately, people have been e-mailing me, and depending on the time of the day, it can take me anywhere from 30 minutes or 30 hours to get to the item, unfortunately. As a result, I encourage you all to be as proactive as possible!

Oh no! Maybe there seriously aren’t that many events today, given that it’s the World Day of Social Justice. As a result, our events calendar for today is a bit barren. If you’re having an event, please let us know in the comments. Also, make sure it isn’t left out in the future – Submit it via this link (as long as you’re logged into your Patch account).

Sign up for our daily newsletter! Hey, I realize we have a lot of neat features and knick-knacks on the site, so it can be confusing to keep up with it all. Want just one simple, easy to read daily digest? Sign up for our e-mail newsletter here then. It comes out between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. roughly, every single day of the week. Amazing, I know.

Unfortunately, Bugs’ version didn’t come out until 1950. On this day in 1816, The Barber of Seville opened up in Rome.

My gods, you’re 47??? Happy birthday to Cindy Crawford! You are still ridiculously attractive.
