mmm, Ice cream AND socializing AND fishing? What could be better for Five Things?

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Friday, May 11, 2012:

Mmm! Ice cream social! Matunuck Elementary School will be hosting its annual at 6 p.m. tonight. Speaking as a former elementary school student myself, this is always by far the best event of the year.

But maybe you’d prefer castin’ and fishin’. There is a family fishing derby tonight from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Old Mountain Field pond. The rain date is Saturday. The fee is $5 for residents and $8 for non-residents.

Buy yourself a Venus fly trap, or even better, a Mercury fly trap. There is a plant sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the URI Greenhouse today. For more info, go .

There probably actually is some nonsense at Nunsense, just as a warning. The production is being staged at in West Kingston at 7 p.m. tonight. Tickets are $15. For more information, click .

Way cooler than Johnny Quest. The anime and magna club will hold a meeting at 3:30 p.m. at the . For more info, click . Students in grades 7 and up are welcome, and there will be the watching and drawing of anime, along with other fun times. Also, the club is free, which is always a plus.

“Frosty Drew” would also be a wonderful name for an ice cream place. Each Friday, the Frosty Drew Observatory in Charlestown holds a free public observation night. You can head on over around 7:30 p.m., you know, when it gets dark out. For more info, click .

Register for Narragansett or South Kingstown summer camp! Narragansett Parks and Recreation is now taking registrations for , which begins June 25. The cost is $135, and the camp typically runs into late August. South Kingstown is also , and to see their summer camp guide, go here.
