5 THINGS: Chafee and Ke$ha

Today’s Five Things feature two people who would probably have absolutely nothing to chat with one another about.

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Friday, March 1, 2013:

Mmm, coffee! The Education Exchange is hosting its “First Friday” program at 8 a.m. The cost is $5.

Federal delegation and the governor in town. They’re all here to make an announcement at 10 a.m. about funding secured for Galilee. For more info, click here.

I hope they play the Star Wars theme. The University of Rhode Island concert band performs at 8 p.m. at the Fine Arts Center. Admission for the general public is $10, and for more info, click here.

Looking for some sweet University of Rhode Island athletics swag? Check out the Rhody Auctions marketplace! On sale now are some classic men’s basketball warm-ups, and some throwbacks. The latest round of auctions ends March 6.

Has the time or date or details of one of your events changed? If you posted the event yourself on our site, then remember – You can always change the details if you’re logged into your Patch account. Failing that, leave a comment on the item in question! The issue is that lately, people have been e-mailing me, and depending on the time of the day, it can take me anywhere from 30 minutes or 30 hours to get to the item, unfortunately. As a result, I encourage you all to be as proactive as possible!

Oh no! Maybe there seriously aren’t that many events today, given that it’s Beer Day. As a result, our events calendar for today is a bit barren. If you’re having an event, please let us know in the comments. Also, make sure it isn’t left out in the future – Submit it via this link (as long as you’re logged into your Patch account).

Sign up for our daily newsletter! Hey, I realize we have a lot of neat features and knick-knacks on the site, so it can be confusing to keep up with it all. Want just one simple, easy to read daily digest? Sign up for our e-mail newsletter here then. It comes out between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. roughly, every single day of the week. Amazing, I know.

Dear Rio, I delighted in destroying you in SimCity for the Super Nintendo via tornado, flood and King Koopa. On this day in 1565, Rio de Janeiro was founded.

She is basically America’s princess, and I’m completely OK with that. Happy 26th birthday to Ke$ha! Tik tok, don’t stop, etc. I would link to one of her videos, but pretty much none of them are appropriate for our informal PG-13 rating.

Want to be e-mailed when we have a new Five Things? Click the “keep me posted!” button below. For our full list of events for today, click here.
