There are plenty of relevant government meetings to check out tonight, so take part in democracy!

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Monday, January 14, 2013:

“Selfishness and greed, individual or national, cause most of our trouble.” – Harry S. Truman. Here are today’s government meetings:

  • The Narragansett 125th Anniversary Planning Committee meets at 3 p.m. in the town hall’s large boardroom.
  • The Narragansett Recreation Advisory Board meets at 5:30 p.m. at town hall.
  • The South Kingstown Economic Development Committee meets at 5:30 p.m.
  • The South Kingstown Town Council meets for its regular session at 7:30 p.m. at town hall. A work session will start at 6 p.m. with local legislators.

Want to see the Boston Celtics play? The Neighborhood Guild is planning a trip for Feb. 10, when the Celtics play the Denver Nuggets. The final payment deadline is Jan. 25, but the tickets (39 of them) are first come, first served. For more info, click here.

Has the time or date or details of one of your events changed? If you posted the event yourself on our site, then remember – You can always change the details if you’re logged into your Patch account. Failing that, leave a comment on the item in question! The issue is that lately, people have been e-mailing me, and depending on the time of the day, it can take me anywhere from 30 minutes or 30 hours to get to the item, unfortunately. As a result, I encourage you all to be as proactive as possible!

Oh no! Maybe there seriously aren’t that many events today, given that it’s Ratification Day. As a result, our events calendar for today is a bit barren. If you’re having an event, please let us know in the comments. Also, make sure it isn’t left out in the future – Submit it via this link (as long as you’re logged into your Patch account).

Sign up for our daily newsletter! Hey, I realize we have a lot of neat features and knick-knacks on the site, so it can be confusing to keep up with it all. Want just one simple, easy to read daily digest? Sign up for our e-mail newsletter here then. It comes out between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. roughly, every single day of the week. Amazing, I know!

You can watch Today today, just like they watched Today today but 61 years ago. On this day in 1952, NBC’s Today debuted.

“I have a tendency to evolve into William Shatner, with my big fat face.” Happy 44th birthday to Jason Bateman! (And p.s., season four of Arrested Development is on schedule for May 2013, according to Wikipedia.)
