Wakefield Man Arrested at Gunpoint, Charged with Assaulting His Fiance

South Kingstown Police arrested a 33-year-old member of the Army National Guard at gunpoint on Sunday after he refused to cooperate with police following an argument with his fiance.

Jeramy J. Webb, 33, of 294 Allen Ave., Wakefield, was on Sunday, June 30 at 4:43 a.m. and charged with domestic simple assault and resisting arrest. Police responded to the Allen Avenue residence that Webb shares with his fiance and their child just after 4 a.m. on Sunday. A neighbor called police and reported that Webb had his fiancé in a chokehold in their kitchen.

When police arrived on scene, Webb refused to yield to police instructions to put his hands in the air, simply telling police that "there are two sides to every story." He allegedly repeated this phrase over and over all the while keeping his hands hidden behind his back. Police eventually went hands on with Webb in order to place him in handcuffs. Officers allege he aggressively and actively resisted arrest by tightening his arms and refusing to comply with police instructions.

Webb was arraigned by a justice of the peace later that morning and released on $1,000 personal recognizance. A no-contact order was issued between Webb and his fiancé.

Webb will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on July 11.
