The RISP Marine Unit will be on patrol in Narragansett Bay this summer.

Colonel Steven G. O’Donnell, Superintendent, of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety, announced Friday that the Rhode Island State Police Marine Unit will be assigned to patrol Narragansett Bay throughout the Summer.

In collaboration with the United State Coast Guard, Rhode Island Environmental Police Division of Law Enforcement and local harbormasters, the State Police Marine Unit will be patrolling Narragansett Bay to promote marine safety, handle calls for service and to enforce the criminal laws within Rhode Island waterways with special attention to “Boating While Intoxicated.”

Troopers will be conducting vessel safety inspections and will have zero tolerance for those drinking alcohol while operating a vessel.
