South Kingstown is ranked right in the middle of a list of Rhode Island's most violent communities, according to analysis conducted by golocalprov.com. The study used 2012 crime statistics released by the FBI last week.
Out of 37 Rhode Island communities that report crime data to the FBI, South Kingstown came in at #17. Of the 26 violent crimes reported in SK for the year, there were four forcible rapes, six robberies, 16 aggravated assaults and zero murders.
Nationally, the number of violent crimes increased 0.7 percent over the previous year, according to the data.
