South Kingstown Police: Underage Alcohol Possession, Domestic Assault and More

The following arrest information is based solely on reports provided by the South Kingstown Police Department. Arrests do not necessarily indicate convictions.

The South Kingstown Police made the following arrests and citations last week:

  • Kevin C. Haughey, 20, 4 Hummingbird Lane, Cranston, was cited on Sunday, June 20 at 1:40 a.m. and charged with possession of alcohol by a person under 21. Police stopped Haughey for traveling the wrong direction on a portion of Old North Road that is a one-way road. Police saw a case of beer in plain view through the rear window. Haughey will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on July 11 at 9 a.m.
  • Michael H. Cassidy, 66, of 33 Cranberry Run, South Kingstown, was arrested on Friday, June 28 at 7:40 p.m. and charged with domestic simple assault after he allegedly pushed his wife during an argument. Cassidy denied arguing with his wife that day. He was presented before a justice of the peace and released on $1,000 personal recognizance and a no-contact order was issued between Cassidy and his wife. He will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on July 11 at 9 a.m.
  • Mary Ellen Logee, 56, of 681 Kingstown Road Apt. 212, South Kingstown, was arrested on Friday, June 28 at 4:41 p.m. and charged with domestic simple assault and resisting arrest. Police responded to Kingstown Road after several witness reported seeing a woman hitting a man on the side of the road. Logee was transported to police headquarters and processed. She will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on July 11 at 9 a.m.
  • Jennifer D. Blunt, 39, of 73 Wright Ave., Wakefield, was arrested on Friday, June 28 at 12:57 p.m. on a bench warrant issued from Fourth Division District Court for failure to appear on a cost review. Police arrested Blunt after a detective saw her walking on Cherry Street and recognized that she had a warrant. She was processed and transported to Fourth Division District Court for arraignment that day.
  • Scott Pepler, 54, of 230 Barbs Hill Road, Coventry, was arrested on Friday, June 28 at 1:13 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence - first offense - blood alcohol content unknown, and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Police stopped Pepler on Route 1 north near Matunuck Beach Road after allegedly observing the car swerving all over the road. Peplar failed a field sobriety test, refused a chemical test and was arrested for suspicion of drunken-driving. Pepler will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on July 11 at 9 a.m.
  • Alexander D. Nieves, 28, of 6 Brodin Drive, Hope Valley, was arrested on Thursday, June 27 at 1:42 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct. Nieves was wanted on a South Kingstown Police warrant for disorderly conduct when an officer recognized Nieves driving as a passenger in a car on Curtis Corner Road. The officer knew that Nieves was wanted on the warrant, stopped the car and arrested Nieves. He was arraigned in Fourth Division District Court.
  • Michael G. LaBonte, 48, of 466 Woodruff Ave. Apt. C, was arrested on Wednesday, June 26 at 3:30 a.m. and charged with domestic simple assault after he allegedly punched his wife, who is eight months pregnant, in the eye. LaBonte was arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on June 26.
  • David G. Stoll, 45, of homeless, of South Kingstown, was arrested on Tuesday, June 25 at 8:18 p.m. on a 
  • Fourth Division District Court bench warrant for failure to appear for a probation review. He was taken into custody and later transported to Fourth Division District Court for arraignment.z

The following incidents were reported last week in South Kingstown: 

  • On Saturday, June 29 at 12:09 p.m., police responded to 158C Sherman Road to investigate a report of a broken window. The homeowner, Donna Brunoli-Conyers, told police the window smashed sometime after June 16, as she had spent the past week at her permanent residence in Connecticut. The second-story window had a large circular hole cut into it, but no evidence of a rock or how it was broken was nearby. The damage is estimated to cost $400. Bunoli-Conyers stated that a small Bandit boat trailer was also stolen from their property over the winter. It was valued at $200. Police are investigating the incident.
  • On June 29 police responded to South County Hospital to speak with two employees that had money missing from their purses. The women both arrived to work at 6:30 a.m. and placed their purses into unlocked lockers in the unlocked employee locker room near the hospital kitchen. When the women returned to their lockers around 10 a.m., both noticed that they were missing money. One woman was missing $450, another $53 and a third woman who chose not to come forward was missing $20. Police are investigating the incident.
