South Kingstown Man Charged with Hosting Underage Drinking Party

South Kingstown police charged a 51-year-old man with hosting an underage post-prom drinking party over the weekend.
William M. Russo, of 441 Moonstone Beach Road, was charged with purchase/procurement of alcohol for a minor—a misdemeanor—under the state's social host law.
Police said they responded to the home Saturday at about 4 a.m. for a medical call. They said they found an 18-year-old girl who was so drunk that she needed to be transported to a local hospital.

Police said they encountered 22 minors and saw a bunch of open alcohol containers. Police also said Russo collected keys from the minors and blocked the driveway with cars to make sure no one would leave. The minors said it was a post-prom party, police said.
Russo was scheduled to appear in South Kingstown District Court June 12.
