South Kingstown police on Wednesday broke up an underage drinking party and charged a teenager under the state's social host law.
Thomas A. McDonald, 19, of 165 White Pond Rd., was issued a civil violation for purchase/procurement of alcohol for a minor.
Police said on Wednesday at about midnight, they responded to his house after a 20-year-old woman fell down some stairs and suffered a head injury. She was transported to South County Hospital.
Police said they found 10 minors between the ages of 18 and 20 and a bunch of open containers of alcohol in a barn on the property.
"Mr. McDonald told officers that he had obtained the alcohol for the party by asking a random person entering O’Neill’s Package Store in Narragansett to purchase alcohol for him," police said in a statement. "Mr. McDonald stated he paid the man $10 to make the purchase of $60 worth of alcoholic beverages."
On Saturday, police charged a 51-year-old man with hosting an underage post-prom drinking party at his Moonstone Beach Road home.
