South Kingstown Man Charged With Drunken Driving

Andrew Fletcher, 54, of 39 Kimberley Drive, South Kingstown, was arrested at about 4:58 p.m. on Dec. 23 and charged with drunken driving, and cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test.

According to police, an officer patrolling on Saugatucket Road clocked a black Ford pick-up truck at 55 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone. As a result, a traffic stop was made on Tower Hill Road.

Police said that the truck smelled strongly of alcohol, as did Fletcher’s breath when they spoke to him. Police said Fletcher consented to field sobriety tests, which he failed, at which point he was arrested.

At headquarters, police said Fletcher refused to submit to a chemical test. He was processed and then released at about 6:57 p.m.
