A South Kingstown man is warned for public urination, and a Hopkinton woman is arrested for a warrant.

Unless otherwise noted, information about the following incidents was supplied by the South Kingstown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Hopkinton Woman Arrested for Warrant

Melody L. Moore, 50, of 44 High St., Hopkinton, was arrested at about 12:31 a.m. on Dec. 15. Police said a warrant was issued by Hopkinton police for Moore’s arrest on charges of writing fraudulent checks.

According to police, an officer checked the registration of a car while on Old Tower Hill Road. Police said the background check revealed the car’s owner – Moore – had a warrant out for her arrest.

Police said a traffic stop was made near Del’s Lemonade, and they confirmed Moore’s identity.

She was arrested without incident and held at headquarters, where Hopkinton police picked her up at about 1:37 a.m. A friend drove her car from the scene.

Alcohol Violations

- Nicholas P. Dutra, 19, of 14 Connors Farm Drive, Smithfield, was cited at about 9:35 p.m. on Dec. 14 and charged with transportation of alcohol by a minor.

A passenger in Dutra’s car, Kamran A. Jones, 19, of 2220 Middle Road, East Greenwich, was cited and charged with possession of alcohol by a minor.

According to police, an officer monitoring Patsy’s Liquor Store noted the driver of a black Toyota making an illegal U-turn. A traffic stop was made on Kingstown Road.

Police said Jones admitted to buying alcohol at the store when questioned by police, after a check of Jones’ and Dutra’s licenses revealed they were both underage.

As a result, both were cited. Police confiscated a six-pack of Heineken beer, a 30-pack of Keystone Light beer and a 750-mL bottle of Burnett’s pink lemonade vodka.

South Kingstown Man Warned for Urinating

At about 1:44 p.m. on Dec. 15, an officer noted a 34-year-old South Kingstown resident urinating on the bike path near Church Street.

Police noted that the men’s genitalia was not exposed, and he was otherwise not causing a disturbance, so he was warned for the offense instead of being arrested or cited.

When the man was asked if he had been drinking today, he allegedly told police, “Ya, a little bit and I really had to ****, man.” The man told police he had recently returned to Rhode Island from Florida, and promised he would not be a problem for South Kingstown police.
