SK Police Log: August 8, 2012

A man is arrested after he's allegedly found on the roof of South Kingstown Town Hall.

Drinkin’ On The Roof of Town Hall – Peacedale Teen Charged With Disorderly Conduct

Carl M. Pierson, 19, of 267 Church St., Peacedale, was arrested at about 4:32 p.m. on Aug. 8 and charged with disorderly conduct.

According to police, they received a complaint of an intoxicated man on the roof of South Kingstown Town Hall, next to an air conditioning unit by the town manager’s office.

Police said that when they went on the roof, Pierson was there, and he was arrested without incident. Police noted that he appeared to be highly intoxicated. Pierson later consented to a chemical test, which revealed his blood alcohol level to be .199.

According to police, a town hall employee told them that they heard loud banging noises from the roof, at which point Pierson was noticed. Pierson was also issued a no-trespass order.

Police said Pierson was processed at police headquarters and then released to the custody of a family member at about 5:35 p.m.

South Kingstown Man Charged With Domestic Assault

Aaron Vincent Jackson, 48, of 507 High St., South Kingstown, was arrested at about 4:20 p.m. on Aug. 8 and charged with domestic assault.

According to police, a 911 caller reported a domestic assault in progress at a High Street home. When police arrived, they said that Jackson and the alleged victim were separated.

Police said that the victim told them that Jackson had held her down and hit her. The victim told police the fight started after she refused to buy beer for Jackson.

According to police, Jackson was arrested without incident. He was transported to headquarters, processed and then released at about 8:20 p.m.

Death Not Suspicious

At about 11:33 a.m. on Aug. 8, police received a report of a death in a condominium complex on Grandeville Court.

Police said that after an examination of the scene and interviews with friends, there did not appear to be any foul play involved. The man was a 78-year-old employee of the University of Rhode Island. Family members were informed.
