SK Police Log: August 23, 2012

A Narragansett man is charged with drunken driving, and a Curtis Corner student is arrested for a warrant.

Narragansett Man Charged With Drunken Driving

Matthew D. Threlfall, 33, of 23 Seaport Drive, Narragansett, was arrested at about 5:13 p.m. on Aug. 23 and charged with drunken driving.

According to police, lifeguards at South Kingstown Town Beach informed them that a man they believed to be intoxicated drove from the beach in a white car. Police spotted a car matching the description, swerving, on Route 1.

Police attempted to stop the car at the Pond Street exit, but it kept driving, and police noted that it finally pulled over at the Silver Spring Marina. Police immediately noted the smell of alcohol coming from the car.

According to police, while doing field sobriety tests, Threlfall told them, I’m drunk man, I’m sorry.” He consented to a chemical test at police headquarters, which revealed blood alcohol content of .235 at 5:47 p.m. and .228 at 5:50 p.m.

CCMS Student Arrested on Warrant

A 15-year-old South Kingstown boy was arrested by police at about 8:05 a.m. on Aug 23. Police said he is a student at Curtis Corner Middle School, and a Sixth Division District Court warrant was out for his arrest.

According to police, the warrant was issued for failing to appear at a Family Court hearing. Police went to the boy’s house at about 7:52 a.m., and he was arrested without incident after he answered the door.

Police noted that the boy’s parent wasn’t home. However, she was notified later that day, at about 8:21 a.m. The boy was scheduled for arraignment at about 11 a.m.
