SK Police Log: August 16, 2012

Police make an arrest for an alleged domestic assault, and cite a teen for transportation of alcohol.

Providence Man Charged With Domestic Assault

Javian Brooks, 26, of 17 Longmont St., Providence, was arrested at about 10:41 p.m. on Aug. 16 and charged with domestic assault.

According to South Kingstown police, Providence police arrested Brooks based on a South Kingstown warrant.

The initial assault took place on Aug. 5, and details were not included in Brooks’ arrest report. The victim is a 21-year-old East Providence woman, and the assault allegedly took place at the Tuckertown Park concession stand.

Brooks was processed and then released at about 12:45 a.m. on Aug. 17.

Exeter Teen Cited for Transportation of Alcohol

John T. Marcus, 18, of 1009 Slocum Road, Exeter, was cited at about 7:31 p.m. on Aug. 16 and charged with transportation of alcohol by a minor.

According to police, an officer noted a gray Jeep with an expired registration sticker while it was in the parking lot of Wakefield Liquors. A traffic stop was made on Route 1 South by the South Kingstown Public Services building.

Police said a 20-pack of Budweiser beer was visible during the traffic stop, and it was confiscated after confirming that Marcus was under 21. He was also cited for the expired registration sticker.
