Police Log: After Hours At The Library

The following are based on reports of the South Kingstown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

South Kingstown police
arrested Joanna Toole, 41, of 184 Arlington Ave., Warwick, Feb. 29 at 9 a.m. on a charge of breaking and entering into a building during daytime, a felony. According to reports, a South Kingstown town employee contacted police to report a woman who had broken into a shed at the Peace Dale Library on Kingstown Road. The worker noticed the door to the shed, which is attached to the library, was open and when he investigated, he found Toole sleeping under blankets next to a bottle of vodka that had spilled all over the floor.

Toole will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on March 27.

Sisterly Love

Dawn M. Gleason, 46, of 1283 Broad Rock Road, was arrested on Feb. 28 at 4:26 p.m. and charged with domestic assault after she allegedly pushed her sister-in-law and pulled her down three stairs at the Medical Office Building on Kenyon Avenue. She will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on March 8.

Bench Warrant

Curtis J. Hicks, 55, homeless, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 9:29 p.m. on a bench warrant from Fourth Division District Court for failure to appear. He was arraigned Fourth Division District Court on Feb. 29.

Drunken-Driving Charge

Jenessa Redfern, 22, of 23 Towpath Drove, Wilmington, MA, was arrested on Feb. 29 at 1:43 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after her car allegedly struck a tree on Kingstown Road. Redfern denied hitting the tree. She will be arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on March 8.

Stolen Goods

John Celico, 18, of 155 Old North Road, was arrested on March 1 at 3:15 p.m. and charged with receiving stolen goods, a misdeanor. Police allege he had a Garmin GPS in his home that belonged to a Biscuit City Road woman. He was arraigned in Fourth Division District Court on March 1.

Credit Fraud

Debra E. Pare, of Little Comfort Way, reported on March 1 at 4:56 p.m. that someone intercepted and used two credit cards — one from Amazon.com and another from Kohls — that were being mailed to her home. Police are investigating the incident.
