Police Log: 3 Minors Arrested In 3 Separate Incidents

Information about the following incidents was supplied by the East Greenwich Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, Oct. 2

7:30 a.m. – Police arrested a 13-year-old boy at Cole Middle School because he had a plastic bag of bullets in his backpack.

"He was showing them off to other kids and someone reported him," said Det. Lieutenant Jay Fague. He stressed the boy had no weapon. It's illegal for a minor to possess ammunition.

Because it's a felony offense, the incident will be handled in Family Court.

2 p.m. – Police arrested a 15-year-old boy for assault after a fight with a 17-year-old girl on a school bus escalated and the boy allegedly bit the girl's finger. He will have his case handled in Family Court because this is not his first offense, Fague said.

Thursday, Oct. 4

Police arrested a 17-year-old girl for possessing prescription drugs at East Greenwich High School. According to Fague, the pills were not properly labeled and were not in their original container. In addition, there was no proof the pills were hers.

Because it's a felony offense, the incident will be handled in Family Court.

I thought it was only illegal for a minor to possess AND use ammunition? What he did was not a great move but a felony for a 13 year old? Ouch.
