Woman Accuses Officer of Being Member of IRA
Yup, you read that right. In Newport last week, police tried to help a woman who was reportedly drunk and crying outside the Hotel Viking. As they tried to help her call for a ride, she became agitated. Apparently, the best insult the 42-year-old woman could dish out was to accuse the officer of being a member of the Irish Republican Army. Though it’s not necessarily a good thing to be accused of, I’m sure he’s heard far worse.
You’re Not in Massachusetts Anymore, Dorothy
So one Massachusetts woman got a bit turned around to say the least last week. When police pulled her over, they noticed that her speech was slurred and she smelled of alcohol. After she failed her sobriety test, police brought her to the Woonsocket Police station for processing…which probably came as quite a shock to the 29-year-old woman who thought she was in Mendon, MA. I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt on this one and assume she was using Apple Maps.
A Likely Story
Whether it’s the police, the rental car company or even this Patch editor, not many people are buying the story allegedly concocted by a strip club worker on how she magically found her “stolen” rental car. In August, the 33-year-old woman failed to return her rental car by the return date, citing that she had lent it to a friend but no longer knew who had the car. The woman allegedly did not report the vehicle stolen and continued to evade the rental car company, a warrant was issued for her arrest. Coincidentally, a few days after the warrant was issued, she “miraculously” located her car and returned it to the rental company – but leaving her $500 bill unpaid. She’s facing one count of obtaining a car with intent to defraud.
