Narragansett Police Stepping Up Patrols After 18 Arrested at URI Rager

A party on Greene Lane reportedly featured more than 1,000 students.

Narragansett police said they will step up patrols this weekend after 18 University of Rhode Island students were arrested during a huge off-campus party on Greene Lane Saturday.

"The severity of this certainly warrants that drastic of recourse," Police Chief Dean Hoxsie told NBC 10.

More than 1,000 students reportedly attended the party. Some threw beer bottles at each other, while one person ripped out a mailbox and tossed it in the air.

Narragansett Town Manager Pamela Nolan called the party a "riot."
