Narragansett Police Log: April 29 and 30, and May 1, 2012

There is a pair of domestic arrests by Narragansett Police to close out April.

Unless otherwise noted, information about the following incidents was supplied by the Narragansett Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Narragansett Man Charged With Domestic Assault, Disorderly Conduct

Daniel West, 35, of 104 Iroquois Road, Narragansett, was arrested at about 9:27 p.m. on April 30 and charged with domestic simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct.

According to police, a family member accused West of assault. Police said based on an interview with the victim, West was charged with disorderly conduct and simple assault, both with domestic modifiers.

West was issued a no-contact order between himself and the family member.

URI Student Charged With Domestic Vandalism, Disorderly Conduct

Kirstie M. Brooks, 20, of 18 Cypress Ave., Narragansett, was arrested at about 3:46 p.m. on April 29 and charged with domestic vandalism and domestic disorderly conduct. Police said Brooks is a student at the University of Rhode Island.

According to police, they received a report from a roommate of Brooks that she had kicked the door repeatedly while drunk at about 2 a.m., damaging it in the process.

Police responded to Brooks’ home to verify the damage, and placed her under arrest. She was arraigned and released later that day.

South Kingstown Man Arrested for Suspended License

John-Austin Hopkins Hines, 24, of 552 Main St., South Kingstown, was arrested at about 6:44 p.m. on April 30 and charged with driving with a suspended license.

According to police, an officer driving on Ocean Road near the Breakwater Village saw a car pass him on the other side of the road with a cracked front windshield and tinted windows. As a result, a traffic stop was made on Pilgrim Avenue.

Police said a background check of the driver – Hines – revealed that his license was suspended. He was arrested without incident. Two passengers in the car were not allowed to drive it from the scene – one also had a suspended license, while the other was intoxicated. A friend arrived afterwards and drove the car.
