Narragansett Police: Hit and Nearly Ran

The following is based on reports from the Narragansett Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The Narragansett Police Department made the following arrests recently:

Rebecca Bentley, 20, of 6 Gaspee Road, Narragansett, was charged with driving under the influence, refusal to submit to a chemical test and transport of alcohol by a minor after she reportedly hit a pickup truck on Jamestown Way and started to leave the scene before thinking twice and turning around.

Bentley was reportedly parked in her Chevy Trailblazer by the side of the road talking to a pedestrian at about 12:30 a.m. on Nov. 10. Reportedly without warning, she turned into the lane, hitting a pickup truck passing by in the travel lane. A witness reported Bentley then drove away, turning right onto Lincoln Way, before turning around and returning to the scene of the accident.
