Narragansett PD Assists with Heroin Investigation Resulting in 2 Arrests

Officers seized heroin, cash, a vehicle, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and 45 tickets to Bruins, Celtics and Patriots games.

Following a joint narcotics investigation with Narragansett PD, North Kingstown police arrested two NK men at the Budget Inn, 7825 Post Road, Thursday for selling heroin.

Jeffrey Souza, 21, who was living at the motel, was charged with sale/delivery of heroin and conspiracy to sell heroin. William Ritzau, 42, whose address is unknown, was also charged with sale/delivery of heroin.

Police obtained two arrest warrants and, on Thursday, got a search warrant for the motel room where Souza was staying.

Officiers seized heroin, $1,430 in cash, Souza's 2002 Mazda, marijuana, drug paraphernalia (including syringes), 32 tickets to upcoming Boston Celtics games, four to upcoming Boston Bruins games, and nine to upcoming New England Patriots games.

Police said the seized items were either used to carry out drug sales or were proceeds from the sales.

Ritzau is currently on 25 years probation for a first-degree robbery conviction in 2004. He and Souza were arraigned in Third District Court and are being held without bail.
