Narragansett Fire to Swear in First Female Firefighter

Aubrie Blanchette, 26, will become the department's first female firefighter.

For the first time in its history, the Narragansett Fire Department will have a female in its ranks. 

Aubrie Blanchette of Warwick was sworn in on Tuesday to the department's 34-member department, reports the Associated Press. She has been working on a probationary status with the department for the past year. In addition to her graduation from a 18-week fire training academy, 26-year-old also received an emergency medical technician license.
