The state Department of Environmental Management identified the man who was found dead on Scarborough State Beach in Narragansett Sunday morning as Alan Mason, 64, of Wakefield.
DEM Spokeswoman Gail Mastrati said Narragansett Police contracted the DEM at about 8:50 a.m.
Mason was found by two people walking a dog on the path near the rear of the beach building, Mastrati said.
The death is not considered suspicious and the cause has not yet been determined by the medical examiner.
