Jeffrey M. Jordan, 56, of 55 Juniper Trail, Narragansett, was arrested at about 10:42 p.m. on Sept. 1 and charged with drunken driving and carrying a weapon while intoxicated, which is a felony.

According to police, a caller told a dispatcher that a man in a black GMC pickup truck had almost struck several pedestrians while driving north on Ocean Road. Police found a truck matching the description on Boston Neck Road, and made a traffic stop near the town beach parking lot.

Police said the driver – Jordan – smelled of alcohol, however, he told police that he hadn’t had a single drink. Police asked him to consent to field sobriety tests, which they said he failed, and he was arrested.

According to police, an inventory of Jordan’s truck revealed a 12-gauge shotgun and 28 shells. The gun was confiscated.

At headquarters, Jordan refused to submit to a chemical test, which he was cited for. He was processed and transferred to court for arraignment at about 10:40 a.m.

According to online records, Jordan posted bail on Sept. 4. A felony screening date and future court hearings have yet to be scheduled.
