Crews Battle 3-Alarm Blaze in South Ferry Industrial Park
Major blaze at 80 Dean Knauss Road.
Crews from the Union Fire District, Narragansett and North Kingstown Fire Departments are at the scene of a major fire on Dean Knauss Drive in the South Ferry Industrial Park in Narragansett's North End.
Flames broke out around 2 p.m. and a massive plume smoke could be seen for miles, even as far as Newport across Narragansett Bay.
The three-alarm fire appears to have caused severe damage to a barn-like building at 80 Dean Knauss Drive.
Town property records show the building is owned by Ski-Par Realty, LLC. The 7,668 square foot building was built in 1986.
The building appears to have been used for office or inventory space. A craigslist ad posted in February said the building is "perfect for Internet speciality businesses, consulting, art studio or many other appropriate uses."
