Obituary: Howard C. Chadwick, 85, Korean War Veteran, Narragansett Electric Employee

Howard C. Chadwick, 85, of South Kingstown, passed away on March 20. He was the beloved husband of Carol (Benoit) Chadwick for sixty years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Reginald and Alice (Larsen) Hone.

Mr. Chadwick was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was proud to be a member and former president of the New England Chapter of the 187th Airborne Infantry Regiment Association , the “Rakkasans”. He worked for Narragansett Electric Co. for over forty years before retiring.

For forty five years he was a softball supervisor for South Kingstown Parks and Recreation and in honor of him the West Kingston ball fields were dedicated in his name. Mr. Chadwick was a co-founder of the Narragansett/South Kingstown Babe Ruth League. He enjoyed his daily coffee with friends in South County and Marco Island, FL. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and enjoyed fishing. He was also a member of the Warwick Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.

Besides his wife he leaves his children and their spouses, Stephen and Mary Kate Chadwick, Michael and Jane Chadwick, Karen and Donald Agnew and Cindy and Edward Hart; thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral Monday, March 24th 8:30 a.m. from the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Rd., Kingston.  Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Sunday, March 23rd from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Because his life was so dedicated to sports, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to South Kingstown Booster Club, 215 Columbia St., Wakefield, RI 02879.
