Langevin Nominates South Kingstown’s Manni to Military Academy

Congressman Jim Langevin awarded SK resident James Manni a nomination to West Point - a major requirement for hopeful applicants.

South Kingstown resident and Bishop Hendricken High School senior James Manni recently received a principal nomination to the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY, from Congressman Jim Langevin.

Manni, the son of James and Tracey Manni of SK, is a student leader at Bishop Hendricken, serving as vice president of his class for three years and as founder and president of the student activities club. An all-state swimmer, Manni captained the varsity swim team and volunteered as a coach for the Special Olympics of Rhode Island. He also started a Water Polo Club at Hendricken and serves as its captain.

Since the seventh grade, Manni has run “The Mitten Project,” a community service initiative he started that distributes hats and mittens to Rhode Islanders in need.
