South County Hot Air Balloon Festival Returns for 36th Year!

Colorful hot air balloons, The Flying Wallendas, Roomful of Blues, a statewide BBQ competition, carnival rides, kids' rides and games including a fishing pond and small train ride, are just some of the activities featured at the 36th annual South County Hot Air Balloon Festival from July 18 through 20.  Food and craft vendors will be on the field throughout the Festival. A classic car show is scheduled for Saturday, July 19 beginning at 2:00 and going through the early evening. There will also be Fireworks on Saturday about 9:00 pm.

The Festival kicks off Friday afternoon about 4:00 pm with music and a balloon glow. Tethered rides will be available.

Although all balloon events are weather dependent, organizers hope balloons will rise four times during the Festival, not only early Friday and Saturday evenings, but also just about dawn on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Wakefield, this event's net proceeds have raised more than $1.5 million for local scholarships and charities over its 36 year history.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children, 14 and under. A special family rate of $25 covers two parents and multiple children. Parking is free and RV camping is available on site.
