RI Shellfish Management Plan Stakeholder Meeting & Public Lecture 5 - 7 PM -- The Lay of the Land: Understanding Quahog Management in Rhode Island

Join us for a presentation from Rhode Island Department of Environmental shellfish experts Jeff Mercer and Mark Gibson on current regulations for the wild harvest of one of our state treasures, quahogs. Get answers to questions like, "Why do we manage quahogs?" "What are the details of quahog enhancement?" "What is the science, in laymen terms, that influences management decisions?" A discussion will follow where you can ask questions, give opinions on what works and what doesn't, and help brainstorm the role the Rhode Island Shellfish Management Plan should continue to play in shellfish management decision-making. Also, hear about new research focusing on local shellfish resources from Rhode Island Sea Grant funded researchers.
