RI Coalition for Gun Violence Unveiling and "Living for 32" Showing

RI COALITION AGAINST GUN VIOLENCE UNVEILING
Public is invited to attend viewing of "Living for 32" and hear local speakers

(Kingston, RI) 11/12/13-- On Monday, November 18 at 7:30 p.m., The University of Rhode Island will host the unveiling of the Rhode Island Coalition Against Gun Violence (RICAGV). The mission of the RICAGV is to create a safer community by preventing gun violence and enhancing gun safety.  RICAGV will advocate for effective local, state, and national programs, policies, and legislation.
The evening’s program includes a documentary film, “Living for 32,” as well as presentations by several local speakers. This film is about the 32 students and faculty murdered in the tragic Virginia Tech shooting and the 32 people killed by guns every day in America. This film was an official selection of the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. Comments will be heard from the following community members advocating for solutions to gun violence and increased gun safety:

  • Teny Oded Gross, Institute for the Study and Practice of Nonviolence
  • Linda Finn, Rhode Island Coalition Against Gun Violence
  • Paul Bueno de Mesquita, URI Center for Nonviolence & Peace Studies
  • Arlene Hicks, Exeter Town Council President
This event is open to the public and will be held in Swan Hall Auditorium, 60 Upper College Road, University of Rhode Island, Kingston. Sponsors include the Rhode Island Coalition Against Gun Violence, URI Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies, and Institute for the Study and Practice of Nonviolence. There is a $10 suggested donation (free for students).
