LeeAnn Miele Synchronized Skating Open
The Pawtucket and Providence Figure Skating Club is sponsoring the Lee Ann Miele Synchronized Skating Open at URI”s Boss Arena on Saturday, February 22rd from 11 am to 3:00 pm. Founded in 1938, the club is one of the oldest skating organizations in the nation.
The competition is named after the late LeeAnn (Migliaccio) Miele, a Narragansett resident, who pioneered the sport of Synchronized Skating and was a World Synchronized Skating Judge. She also was a National Judge for Singles and Dance. The President of the Skating Club, Gloria Haddad, of Seekonk, will be presenting the medals and trophies to the winners of each event.
The competition will bring 23 teams to URI from as far away as Canada, New York, and New Jersey. The event is open to the public. Tickets can be bought at the door and cost $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for children under age 12 and seniors (60). Children under age three are admitted free.
