Free Flu Vaccination Clinic

As you may
have heard in the news, the flu season is upon us. The strain that is prominent
is H1N1 and it is impacting young and middle aged adults who are otherwise
healthy. In other states we have seen an up tic in hospitalizations and deaths
related to H1N1 in this population. Given that the state is not yet at a 100%
vaccination rate, the Town of South Kingstown, in cooperation with the RI
Department of Health and The Wellness Company, are opening a municipal flu clinic
to offer additional opportunities for adults and children to get vaccinated
against the flu. A FREE vaccination clinic will be held on Thursday January 16,
2014 from 5-8pm at the Broad Rock Middle School in Wakefield. In addition to the
flu vaccine, adults and children may also receive the
tetanus/dyptheria/pertussis (Tdap) vaccine, and the pneumonia vaccine for adults
65 and older or adults 19 and older who smoke or have asthma.
