Exploring the Art of Fiction with Jennifer Mills Kerr

The Peace Dale Library will present a monthly series of 6 2-hour workshops (on the 3rd Saturday of each month  through July) with Jennifer Mills Kerr that explore aspects of fiction through reading, writing, and discussion. Through writing exercises and reviewing different novelists' work, participants will gain greater knowledge about literature, writing, and the creative process.

Part 1, February 16: Seduced into story: Openings.

All of us peruse the first few pages of books to see if we want to read more. But what makes a good opening? We'll read and discuss the beginning pages of a few novels, explore varying techniques for pulling readers in, and free-write using what we've learned. Bring your own writing materials.
