Clamming 101 at Point Judith Pond

The Rhode Island Shellfish Management Plan Seminar Series presents:
Clamming 101 at Point Judith Pond, Narragansett
Tuesday July 23, 2013 from 2 – 5 p.m

Clam digging is as Rhode Island as it gets – join us for a fun and

informative clamming lesson and learn from the pros! This session is part of

the Rhode Island Shellfish Management Plan (SMP) project, an effort to bring

together stakeholder groups – from government, to industry, to community organizations – to collectively plan how Rhode Island can best manage its shellfish resources so they can serve the needs of many over the years to come.

Session information: Please park on the Galilee Escape Road to meet the group. You’ll take part in a short clam-digging lesson by experienced clammer
and educator Paul Kennedy in the shallow waters of Point Judith Pond, and we’ll
have rakes, shovels and buckets for borrowing. Following the class,
refreshments from Iggy’s will be served.

Event is limited to 15 participants all over age 18.

Fee:
$15 per person (cash, credit card, or a check to Coastal Resources Center, University of Rhode Island – registration is not confirmed until payment is received in full).

Advance registration required. Contact smp@etal.uri.edu or 401-874-6106
to register for this event.
