America Indian Baskets
Sarah P. Turnbaugh and her husband William A. Turnbaugh, URI Professor
Emeritus of Anthropology, have just published a book called American Indian
Baskets: Building and Caring For a Collection. It is the most recent of
several books they have co-authored on Indian baskets and other Native arts
during the past 30 years.
Sarah will
talk about how to recognize American Indian baskets from around the country and
how to tell real Indian baskets from similar look-alikes made elsewhere in the
world.
Sarah and
Bill will have some copies of their book available for sale and signing. Part
of the proceeds will go to the museum’s outreach programs.
