Buddy Cianci Is Running For Mayor. Does He Have Your Vote?

The political legend, who served prison time for corruption, is running for mayor of Providence again.

Buddy Cianci, the 73-year-old political legend and convicted felon, is running for mayor of Providence.

He filed paperwork Wednesday afternoon, according to multiple reports. He will run as an Independent in a preliminary field of eight candidates, the Providence Journal reported.

Cianci served as Providence's mayor from 1975 to 1984 and 1990 to 2002. He was forced to resign in 1984 after he was convicted of assaulting a man he claimed was having an affair with his wife. He was also forced to resign in 2002 after he was convicted of a corruption scheme that included bribery.

He was released from prison in 2007 and has since ran a talk show and wrote a memoir titled "Politics and Pasta," among other endeavors.

Earlier this year, he revealed he was diagnosed with rectal cancer. He said the condition is treatable.

Would you vote for Buddy Cianci?
