'Technologically', Speaking...

       I am, absolutely, NOT, an expert in technology, not in any way, shape, or, form. I do, however, enjoy, certain, aspects of it. I own a cell-phone, albeit, a, most, rudimentary, one, which, makes phone calls, and, nothing more; This, because, one can NEVER find a pay-phone, ANYWHERE, anymore, these, days, and, it's comforting to know, that, as I drive alone, a lot, just, in case of emergency, I will have the ability to contact 'help'. I love my laptop, too, and, spend a bit of time, each and every day, 'fine-honing' my writing-skills, by using it. Otherwise, the only, other, technological-'toys' I make use of are a land-line, house-phone, featuring a few of my FAVORITE, technological-advancements, caller-ID, call-waiting, and, 'answering-machine' capability, and, my television, which, offers me the pleasure of DVR'ing shows I wish to watch, with the BEST part of this, being, while watching the 'prerecorded' movie, etc., that, I can 'fast-forward' through ALL the aggravating-ads, that, inundate the air-waves, and keep them 'at bay'. Yes, it has 'come to my attention', that, each, of my favorite components, of modern-technology, consist of ways in which I can keep the 'world' as a whole, at arm's-length, and, this is A-OK with me. I am, otherwise, a very, gregarious and social animal. I love people and interacting with them, face to face. Yet, the 'world at large', e.g., the hounding, telephone-solicitors, advertisers, and, other, such, annoying-folk, who insist on calling my home, at ALL hours of the day and night, well...these calls are for my answering-machine...not for me. Insofar, as my television-viewing, goes, I am interested, solely, in viewing the selected-show...NOT the countless, commercials, touting things I am not interested in, cannot afford, or, find, repugnant. (prescription-drug ads, for one!) Being able to 'control', this, type of interfering, 'trespasser', these, pesky-pesty-people, who come by way of phone-calls or television-ads, whose, sole-desire, it is, is to 'sell' me something I DON"T want, is, without a doubt, THE, very, finest, technology known to mankind. This, is, simply, MY opinion, and, I'm stickin' to it! Just Sayin'... Like · · Share
