It's 'Summertime'...

When I was a small-fry, many moons ago, Summer Vacation, from school, represented such opportunity for great days, filled with fun in the sun, either at the beach or elsewhere. Regardless of where we were, we were NOT in school, and that was the greatest aspect of all! During those years, of schooldays, while in the midst of summer-break, I imagined vacation, all ,but, over, by the time the Fourth of July rolled along. Back then, we NEVER went back to classes, til after Labor Day, so I find it interesting that I would feel this way, with a full two months of vacation time staring me in the face, from July 4th, til my return to academia. I suppose, even as a youngster, I was aware of the nature of time, and, it's elusiveness. As the impending school year would approach, year after year, I would find myself feeling a bit pensive, in anticipation of my return to academia; the realization that in mere moments, I would, once again, be back, stuck in the structure of a schoolroom. I can still feel the butterflies that floated deep in my belly, each year, on the eve prior to the first day back to classes. I experience these 'ghost' sensations, today, as Summer is on the wane. Of course, these sensations are not associated to having to return to school; instead, they are part of my internal -clock's awareness of the approach of a seasonal shift. Don't get me wrong...I love the Autumn, and all of it's associated beauty; However, I am not a great fan of 'Old Man Winter', and, like it or not, he isn't far away. In any event, it is, still, very much the summer-season, with many, great, days ahead. In my attempt to, always, live one day at a time, I enjoy each and every day that I am allowed, regardless of season...regardless of 'butterflies in my belly'. Just Sayin...
