'BAA BAA'...ALL Sheep...

It is my opinion, that, as a group, the citizens of this great, ol' U.S. of A., are, collectively, becoming more of an ever-growing 'herd'. With so many people, seemingly, so, easily, propagandized, by way of convincing commercials, played to an audience of folks who believe ANYTHING, either through naivete', or, perhaps, ennui; as so many of us are so, obviously, lulled into 'sleep', and numbed by, the endless, array, of devious, devices of distraction, which, serve to keep us further from focusing on much else, the 'Powers That Be', have contributed, vastly, to an, ever-growing, population of idolaters, who, all but, 'worship' 'things' of the 'material world', and, a, citizenry of millions who seem to be in a semi-coma of complacency. Believe me, I love technology, just as the next soul; when used, in a proper context, it serves all of us, quite well. Where would we be, without it, after all? Heck, some of my, all time, favorite aspects of such technology, are 'CALLER-ID' and, 'Voice-Mail'. My cell phone, relic that it is, is not capable of 'texting', I don't own a GPS, nor, do I read books on 'Kindle'. I'm, certainly, not 'bashing' those that do; not for me, is all. Actually, I'm honestly, a bit stymied by a person's desire for acquiring all the new-toys. Is it because, as 'sheep', we swallow, 'hook, line, and, sinker', the clever words, used to sell us products that are 'hawked' from every medium one employs; one cannot even view a Youtube video, without having to 'suffer through', yet, ANOTHER ad! Advertisement(s) influence folks; clever advertising is directed to it's target audience, and, TELLS us what we, as consumers, NEED. It's all, quite divisive. I, once, read a quote by a person, whose name I can't recall. What he stated was, simply, that, 'If in today's world, one cannot discover a way to 'make his/her millions' these folks, are, easily, too honest. For, within the world we live, there are countless ways to take advantage of people, and make a profit, while doing so.' From 'Big Pharma' right on down to 'Mickey D's', we are being influenced, through coercion, to make decisions for ourselves. Let's face facts; there is a Dunkin Donuts on every street corner. The world 'runs on Dunkin', after all. New cars, and riding lawn-mowers, to boot, now come equipped with cup-holders, as, seemingly, we cannot 'function' without our 'Cup o' Joe'. Funny...There is something that I wish I would see, more heavily, touted, these days; rather, than witnessing Him being further, and, further removed from our lives. I would wish to witness 'ads' filled with Praise for our Creator; a media made to market Christ, and 'popularize' him. Yet, I know this is not how folks come to know and love Our Lord. He is not a thing to be treated, just, like, ANY other commodity. You see...following in Christ is not for the 'feint of heart'; not for those, whom, due to the 'hype' of a thing, think they 'NEED' it. The need for Him comes from within; this, desire, not a thing, easily, influenced by outside sources. God doesn't 'advertise' Himself, after all. Yet, signs of Him are EVERYWHERE, when one chooses to see them. I find it interesting, that, there are folks who, will, stand in queue, 'camp out', and, sleep on side-walks, outside of stores, venues, etc., in order to acquire the 'next, new, thing'; It always, sorta, 'blows my mind', when I hear of such behavior(s). For so many reasons, I cannot imagine doing any such thing; but, that's, just, me. I try not to judge; I, simply, don't 'get it', is all. The great news is, that, one needn't 'stand on line' to 'acquire' the Lord. He's available, ALWAYS, to ALL...and, free for the 'taking'; all one NEED do is ASK. And, as far as being a 'sheep' goes, I'm one, too. It's, simply, that, my Shepherd, is the Lord. Just Sayin'...
