Higher Education Executives Join OSHEAN Board

North Kingstown, RI: OSHEAN (pronounced ocean) is pleased to announce three new members to its Board of Directors.   The three all bring a depth of experience and have distinguished themselves by advancing IT and digital initiatives in higher education.

The three new board members are:

Roy Galang, Director for Technology Infrastructure and Information Security Officer, Wheaton College

Roy Galang, Director for Technology Infrastructure and Information Security Officer for Wheaton College, has been involved in Higher Educational Computing for over 23 years. He has advanced networking and computer initiatives at Boston College, Berklee College of Music and Wheaton College. Galang has focused his career in Higher Education and delivers technological improvements and solutions to students, researchers and administrators.  Galang is a graduate of Boston College with a BS in Chemistry and an MBA.

David Porter, Director of Media & Technology Services, University of Rhode Island

David Porter is the Director of Media & Technology Services for the University of Rhode Island (URI).  In this capacity he is responsible for the voice, data and video networks as well as instructional technology, desktop support and helpdesk services for all University clients and constituents.  He has been with URI since 2002.  Prior to joining URI, Porter worked for international manufacturing companies in various IT roles including programming, database administration, systems management, telecom management, network design and contract negotiation.  Porter has served on OSHEAN’s Performance Assurance Committee and Governance Committee and was a board member from January 2006 through June 2007.

John Spadaro, Interim CIO, Brown University

John Spadaro is the Interim CIO at Brown University.  He is otherwise Brown's Director of Technical Architecture and Outreach and in that role is responsible for insuring that Brown's IT systems work together seamlessly to provide the university community with a comprehensive and modern set of reliable IT services that meet the needs of research, scholarship and administration. Spadaro also works to involve IT professionals from across the university to create a more global view of IT at Brown.  Spadaro has been at Brown since 1984 in a variety of roles, including Director of the Infrastructure Systems and Services team that supports identity management, email, directories, web services and the underlying infrastructure that makes them all work.
