Wakefield's McNally In Invention Competition

According to a press release, the Twistik hair tool is created and made exclusively in Rhode Island by Wakefield resident Brenda McNally.

TWISTIK, a revolutionary hair tool that puts one's hair up with a twist of their wrist, is competing in Walmart’s Get On The Shelf online contest, which lets people vote on the products they like.

The 10 products with the most votes move on to the contest’s second round, and the top three will be featured on Walmart.com and sold in Walmart stores. Manufactured in Rhode Island, TWISTIK is the creation of Wakefield’s Brenda McNally, a hairstylist and former salon owner now working in the film and television industry.

The product costs are $4.99 for the basic 6 styles and $8.99 for special edition pieces. McNally  introduced the product in late 2011.

“I created TWISTIK as a comfortable, innovative, and practical accessory and tool to free people from the claw, the clamp and the clips that are uncomfortable and unsightly," McNally said. "TWISTIK offers women an easy, fashionable and comfortable way to put their hair up. It is ideal for day at the beach, an afternoon of playing sports or an elegant evening on the town. Walmart’s contest is a great chance to gain exposure for my invention.  I hope to be one of the top 10 from the first round to move forward to Round  2.”
