Estia Restaurant: Authentic Greek Cuisine

Authentic Greek Cuisine at your fingertips. Beautifully decorated with a real family tradition.

If you're hungry for authentic Greek dishes that are freshly prepared and quickly served, be sure to stop in at the beautifully decorated Estia. The family-owned restaurant is located at 28 Old Tower Hill Road in Wakefield. Afrodite Fotopoulos is the kitchen genius at Estia and she makes everything from scratch daily to her exacting standards. “If I make the dish and I don’t like, I don’t serve,” Fotopoulos said emphatically the day we dined there.

The food we enjoyed was abundant and exotically flavorful - from the creamy Avgolemono egg-lemon soup ($3.75) to the Marinated Beef Tip sandwich ($8.99) and the Greek Frappe ($3.25), the national drink of Greece. If you are looking for a light, refreshing beverage, the Frappe is the way to go. It’s light with a full bodied coffee taste. The marinated beef tip sandwich was to die for, tender broiled beef tips garnished with lettuce and tomato, served on a grilled flatbread and covered in a light tasty homemade Greek Yogurt sauce.

Everyday entrees cost $9 to $17, but Estia also offers daily "two-fer" dinner specials Monday through Thursday. For $27.99, you and your dining companion can enjoy a bottle of wine, your choice of soup or salad, fresh baked bread and entrees from the specials menu. Fridays and Saturdays feature fish and lamb specials, respectively.

People with smaller appetites or those who are seeking a light lunch will appreciate the fact that prices for other menu items are also reasonable:

  • Appetizers - from $5.50
  • Soups - $3.25 to $3.75
  • Salads - from $6.75
  • Sandwiches, burgers, specialty pizzas, calzones - from $6.99 (Classic Burger) to $15.99 (George's Special 14" Pizza)
  • Desserts - all under $5

Estia lives up to its name, which Fotopoulos told us means "together in place." The restaurant provides warmth, serenity and charm with a trendy Greek vibe. College students receive a 20% discount with a valid college ID.  The restaurant features a full-service bar. Estia also caters private functions. The restaurant opens Monday through Saturday at 11:00am.
