The University of Rhode Island Student Entertainment Committee and Global Spectrum announced this week that the popular country group, the Eli Young Band is heading to the URI Ryan Center on Wednesday, Dec. 8 at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale to the public on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 10 a.m., here.
The Eli Young Band is comprised of four musicians who met during their college days in Texas: lead singer Mike Eli, drummer Chris Thompson, guitarist James Young and bass player Jon Jones. Now 13 years into their career, the band has spent more than a decade touring without a single lineup change.
The band has charted two consecutive #1 hits at Country Radio with "Crazy Girl" and "Even If It Breaks Your Heart." "Crazy Girl" has been certified PLATINUM, was named Billboard's #1 Country Song of The Year and won the 2012 ACM for Song Of The Year. "Even If It Breaks Your Heart" has been certified PLATINUM and was nominated for GRAMMY Best Country Song and nominated for CMA Song Of The Year.
Their recent album made its debut at #3 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart and #6 on the Billboard 200. It came in at #1 on the iTunes Country Albums Chart and #3 on the iTunes All Genre Chart just behind Jay Z/Kanye West and Adele. The band has earned praise inThe New York Times, People, Associated Press, American Songwriter, The New Yorker, USA Today, New York Post, Billboard and Country Weekly. The band has opened for Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Alan Jackson, Dierks Bentley, Gary Allan, Jason Aldean and Dave Matthews Band and sells out venues as a headliner from coast to coast.
