Strong Thunderstorms To Hit Area; Flash Flooding Possible

More strong thunderstorms are expected this afternoon for Narragansett, South Kingstown and the rest of Washington County.
As of 2:01 p.m., the National Weather Service was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Hopkinton, traveling northeast at 40 mph.
The storm is expected to hit Narragansett, South Kingstown, North Kingstown, Newport, Westerly, Portsmouth, Middletown, Hopkinton, Prudence Island, Richmond, Exeter, Jamestown and Charlestown, but will likely impact the majority of the state.
The storm is expected to bring wind gusts up to 40 mph, torrential rainfall and pooling in low-lying areas. For their own safety and that of others, residents are being advised to not drive through flooded areas.
