R.I. Officials Recommend Approval of Wind Farm Off Block Island

The proposed wind turbine plan now goes to the Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council.

Officials in Rhode Island this week unanimously recommended approval of a proposed plan to install five wind turbine off the shores of Block Island, the Providence Journal reported

Five members of the Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council's Ocean Special Area Management subcommittee made the recommendation at a public workshop Thursday in Narragansett, according to the report. 

The recommendation now goes to the full council for a final decision on the project, which was proposed by Deepwater Wind of Providence, according to the report.
