Here's what you need to know to plan the week ahead.

The second week in January is turning out to be a busy one. Between budget meetings, basketball games, and penciling in a little fun, South Kingstown has a full schedule.

Monday

Town Council Meeting|7:30 p.m. at the , 180 High St., South Kingstown.

Tuesday

School Committee Meeting|7 p.m. at the, 215 Columbia St., South Kingstown.

The committee will make a decision on the 2012-13 calenda, an item that has been under contention since the state Department of Education asked Rhode Island school districts to explore eliminating the February and April vacation weeks in favor of a single week off in March. Planning Board Meeting|7 p.m. at the , 180 High St., South Kingstown.

The board will make a formal decision to the Town Council on LED-type sign technology in South Kingstown. It will also review plans for a 7,500 sqaure-foot medical building on Route 1. To view the agenda, click here.

Library Board of Trustees Meeting|7 p.m. at the , 1057 Kingstown Road, South Kingstown.

Wednesday

Town Council Work Session No. 3:  School Committee FY 2012-13 Capital Improvement Program|6:30 p.m. at the , 180 High St., South Kingstown.

The council will hold a joint public work session with the School Committee to discuss proposed improvements to school properties and long-term financial programs. Click here for the agenda.

Thursday

Waterfront Advisory Committee Meeting|7 p.m. at the , 325 Columbia St., Peace Dale.

Renewable Energy Siting Partnership Project: Fifth Stakeholder Meeting|6 p.m. in the Hazard Room of the Coastal Institute Building at the University of Rhode Island Bay Campus, Narragansett.

The focus of this meeting will be presentations on visual impacts, electromagnetic interference, shadow flicker, and property value impacts.

Saturday

Avenue Q auditions at Courthouse Center for the Arts|Cancelled. , 3481 Kingstown Rd, West Kingston.

The Kingston auditions are rescheduled for Friday Jan. 20 at 7-10 p.m. at Courthouse Center of the Arts, 3481 Kingstown Rd., West Kingston and Saturday, Jan. 21 at RI College, Providence.

Actors are asked to prepare both an up-tempo song and a ballad not from Avenue Q, and be prepared to sing these songs legit and in puppet character voices. A cold reading from the script is expected. For more information, click .

A Simply Stunning Wedding: How to Design a Perfect South County Celebration|1 p.m. 36 South County Commons Way, South Kingstown.
