UPDATE: Downed Tree Causes SK Outage, Leaves 3,500 Without Power

National Grid crews are working to restore power Monday afternoon.

Jan. 14, 10:06 a.m.: According to National Grid spokesperson David Graves, Monday's power outage in South Kingstown was caused by a downed tree not far from the Peace Dale substation on Kingstown Road.

3:24 p.m.:
National Grid is reporting only two customers without power in South Kingstown. All others in the area have been restored.

Update - 2:37 p.m.:
National Grid is reporting just 1,064 customers still without power in South Kingstown.

1:47 p.m.:
 Around 1:30 p.m. Monday, more than 3,563 National Grid electricity customers in South Kingstown and Westerly experienced a power outage.

According to National Grid, the cause of the outage has yet to be determined, but crews are working to check power lines and restore service as quickly as possible.

As of 2:15 p.m., National Grid's estimated restoration time was 3:45 p.m., however customers began reporting restored power around 2 p.m.
