Flash Flood Warning Issued for Several Rhode Island Counties

Several counties are under a Flash Flood Warning Sunday morning as Saturday’s heavy rains continue throughout the region.

Roads throughout the state are flooded out and heavy rain is expected to continue throughout the day.

A sinkhole opened up on Wyman Street in Waltham, MA Sunday morning, shutting down the road and blocking access to the ramp from Rte. 128.

Flood warnings and advisories are up throughout the state including:

Flash Flood Warning - for Kent County, Newport County, Providence County and Bristol County. The National Weather Service says areas in this warning have received between 2.5 and 4 inches of rain since it started Saturday.

The National Weather Service says this Flash Flood warning is an imminent threat and floodwaters have already impacted roads in Fall River, New Bedford, Somerset in Massachusetts and Warren, Rhode Island.

A Flood Advisory has been issued for Northwestern Providence County in Rhode Island. Communities in this area have received 2 to 2.5 inches of rain so far.  A flood advisory is issued for minor urban and small stream flooding.
